PRESS RELEASE
LAMDA Examinations Candidates to be Rewarded with UCAS Seal of Approval
Qualifications from LAMDA the market leader in speech and drama exams in the UK, have been included in the UCAS Tariff. Tariff points for the Academys National Qualifications Framework- accredited Level 3 exams will come into effect for entry to higher education in 2008 and onwards. At a time when questions have arisen concerning the educational value of 'LAMDA Examinations the inclusion in the Tariff enables teachers to inspire pupils, whilst being inherently valuable in helping students get to university. Young people who lead active extracurricular lives will now be rewarded with higher points than would have been attained through their curriculum studies alone.
LAMDAs examinations cover a number of areas, including The Speaking of Verse and Prose, Reading for Performance, Public Speaking, Acting, Devised Performance and Mime. Students who take the Grade 6, 7 or 8 exams will be eligible for between 20 and 65 points, dependent on the grade and their own personal attainment within that grade. Please see the table below.

Quote from the Top
Daryl Lucas, Acting Head of Examinations at LAMDA, enthused, We have worked
hard on behalf of LAMDA Examinations UK candidates to get their achievement
formally recognised by UCAS.
Key Question
Can a candidate take more than one subject and gain points for each?
Yes. Each of the Academys examination subjects is classified as a different qualification, so students can take examinations in a number of different subjects and be awarded points for each. For example, a student could take Grade 8 in both the Speaking of Verse and Prose and ting, achieve a distinction in both and be
awarded 130 points.
